Dr. Brian Barnett joined the Center in July 2008 as a dedicated Medical Oncologist. Just prior to joining the staff at our Center, he served as an Assistant Professor at Tulane University Medical Center where he previously finished his fellowship training in Medical Oncology. While at Tulane, Dr. Barnett had a research interest in translational research and was a co-investigator in numerous tumor immunotherapy clinical trials.
By working very closely together, Dr. Barnett and Dr. Elliott form a highly effective team for individualized, patient-centered therapy, which allows for the coordination of treatment from diagnosis through systemic therapy.
Dr. Barnett has a passion for patient education and believes that effective communication and understanding will allow the patient and family to better cope with and complete treatment, which will ultimately lead to better outcomes.
Additionally, being affiliated with the Elliott-Barnett-Head Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Center allows Dr. Barnett to place an emphasis on breast cancer treatment options and selecting the best protocol for each individual patient.
